Cancellation & Refund Policy
Because every voguetrek journey is arranged on request with our partner lodges and local operators, cancellation terms depend on the route and how close you are to your departure date. The specific terms for your trip are confirmed in writing in your quote before you pay any deposit. The summary below explains how it generally works.
Deposits
A deposit secures your dates and confirms your booking with the lodges and operators. The deposit is generally non-refundable once your trip is confirmed, because it covers commitments we make on your behalf. Where part of the deposit is recoverable, we will refund what we can.
Yunnan Journeys (no permit required)
For our Yunnan circuits, which do not require special permits:
- Cancel 30+ days before departure: balance paid (beyond the deposit) refunded in full.
- Cancel 15–29 days before departure: a partial refund of the balance, less non-recoverable costs.
- Cancel within 14 days of departure: generally non-refundable, as lodges and services are already committed.
Tibet Journeys (Tibet Travel Permit required)
Tibet routes require a Tibet Travel Permit, which must be arranged well in advance and carries non-recoverable processing costs.
- If a permit cannot be issued for reasons outside your control, we refund all amounts paid except documented, non-recoverable permit and third-party costs.
- Cancellations follow the same time-based structure as Yunnan journeys, with permit costs treated as non-refundable once the application has started.
- Your exact permit deadlines and costs are stated in your quote.
Changes to Your Trip
If you need to change dates or travelers, contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes; any difference in lodge or operator costs will be reflected in an updated quote.
Cancellations by Us
If we or our partners must cancel your trip due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, you will be offered alternative dates or a refund of recoverable amounts. We are not liable for separate costs such as flights or visas, so we recommend appropriate travel insurance.
How Refunds Are Issued
Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through Stripe or PayPal. Processing times depend on your bank or card issuer.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical care, and trip interruption for every traveler.
