Step into a 300-year-old Naxi house near Songtsam Lodge Lijiang and learn Dongba culture directly from a master of the tradition. The Dongba script of the Naxi people is widely regarded as the world's last living pictographic writing system, its expressive symbols still used by Dongba priests to record scripture, ritual and the natural world. In this intimate session inside an authentic Ming-Qing era courtyard home, you study the pictographs and the stories behind them, tracing your own characters and glimpsing a heritage that has survived for over a thousand years in the Lijiang valley.
