Horseback Riding on the Plateau at Songtsam Linka Shangri-la

Experience the land the way the Khampa have for generations — on horseback — across the Linka Grasslands beside Songtsam Linka Shangri-la, with options for every level (9:00-18:00 daily). The sturdy plateau horses are at home on these high wetlands beside Napa Lake, where black-necked cranes winter and herds graze beneath Songzanlin Monastery. Basic riding within the field: ¥298 per person for 15 minutes or ¥598 for 40 minutes. A masterclass/beginner lesson with an instructor is ¥798 per person. For experienced riders, cross-country wild ride options head out across the plateau: ¥1498 for 3 hours or ¥2498 for 6 hours (both minimum 2 people), and ¥3498 for a full day including picnic and photoshoot (1-day advance reservation required).
