Pu'er is renowned for its 绝版木刻 — 'exclusive edition' reduction woodcuts, a technique in which a single block is progressively carved away as each color is printed, so once the edition is finished it can never be reprinted. The art form grew from the folk traditions of Pu'er's ethnic minorities and has become one of the region's signature crafts. In this workshop at Songtsam Padma Pu'er Hotel you learn the method and carve and print your own genuinely one-off, limited-edition work. Held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 14:30 to 17:30. CNY 299 per person; minimum two people, maximum eight participants. Reserve at the hotel front desk at least one day in advance.
