Cizhong Winery and Wine Cellar Tour

Songtsam Lodge Cizhong is the first winery lodge in the Songtsam family, set on the banks of the Lancang River. The Songtsam Cizhong Winery has a capacity of 66 tons of wine per year and includes a fermentation plant, wine cellar and tasting room. On this tour you descend into the cellar to learn the winemaking process and the characteristics of wines from across the Greater Shangri-La grape region — a tradition begun when French missionaries planted vines at Cizhong in the 19th century and that still grows the rare Rose Honey grape, extinct in France yet thriving here. After exploring the fermentation and aging spaces, you head to the tasting area to sample the local wines for yourself.
