Songtsam Lodge Meili is located in a small Tibetan village called Gujiunong, opposite Mt. Kawagarbo, the main peak of the Meili Snow Mountain range. The true face of the whole thirteen peaks of Meili Snow Mountain flickers in the clouds. Surrounded by mountains, every window faces the holy snow mountain; clouds float in the sky and a clear stream winds its way through the valley. From time to time the white eared pheasant, a national second-class protected animal, can be seen in the forest around the mountain — Songtsam cooperates with the Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve on an incubation base so that this once endangered creature can continue to sing in the forest. Kawagarbo, about 6,740 m above sea level, has never been conquered by humans and is one of the four sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism; thousands of pilgrims circle Meili Snow Mountain every year on the 240 km mountain road. The nearby Baima Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve is the core area of the Three Parallel Rivers World Natural Heritage, one of the few truly original natural landscape reserves left in China, and Songtsam has carefully designed several hiking routes to enjoy it on foot.
